The Chair shall select an individual and the Comptroller General shall appoint the individual selected by the Chair to serve as the General Counsel of the Board. The General Counsel, at the request of the Board, shall investigate matters under the jurisdiction of the Board, and otherwise assist the Board in carrying out its functions. \[58 FR 61992, Nov. 23, 1993, as amended at 68 FR 69297, Dec. 12, 2003\]
